When God does the unexpected… A study on Habakkuk 1:5-11

This study is based on the passage above and the sermon: Wow That Was Unexpected!

  1. Is it a regular or rare thing for God to answer prayer in the way that Habakkuk received his answer?
  2. In the sermon we discussed the fact that God’s ways are very different to ours, as a group find as many scripture passages as you can which highlight this and discuss them as you go.
  3. What are we to do when it seems that God is distant or disinterested? And what might be the reasons for that?
  4. As a group discuss the various applications this passage has to our lives?

A Study – Mark 16:15-20

Reading – Mark 16:15-20

Based on the sermon: Able to flourish!?

  1. In the sermon we looked at three points in this passage which, over the years, have been taken out of context and so become controversial. Discuss what they were and what Mark’s point was.
  2. Looking at verses 15 and 20; discuss what is meant by go, preaching, the good news, everywhere, everyone.
  3. Verse 19 is a short statement of fact – what does that fact mean for us?
  4. Discuss what it means for us to live in the power of The Holy Spirit.
  5. How are individuals going to apply this to their lives in the days ahead?
