What happens when you have lived somewhere a long time and the city has become so familiar to you and because you see it so often that it is no longer special. Do you really appreciate it in the same way as someone who sees it for the first time and travels a long way to get to that view. What happens often is that, what becomes familiar becomes less appreciated. Sometimes I use the expression, ‘I know someone too well to like them’.
