Romans 1:1-6; 1 Corinthians 15:12-20,50-58
Did Jesus rise from the dead? Does it matter? I hope one thing we’re going to see is that we don’t speak about the resurrection enough. We place a lot of emphasis on the importance of the death of Christ, rightly so and his resurrection sometimes is an afterthought. Should we be talking about the resurrection outside Easter? Just a few years ago the BBC did a survey and they question people about the resurrection and they said that they found out that a quarter of the people who describe themselves as Christians in Great Britain did not believe in the resurrection of Jesus. The survey also showed that two in five of British adults say they do believe in the resurrection of Jesus. The research also found out that a third of Christians said they did not believe in life after death. But the 5th of non religious people surveyed said they did. So is the resurrection important? How necessary is it for Christians? Well, one writer said that the resurrection of Jesus is so important that if Jesus did not rise from the dead, then the case for Christianity utterly collapses.
