If you’re a Bible believing Christian is there something that we should be preaching on? Is there something that we should be concentrating on? Is there something that should be the absolute backbone of everything we do and think and say and according to the apostle Paul, there is a subject, and that subject is the cross. That doesn’t mean you preach a kind of simple gospel sermon every week. What it means is, the ideas that are encapsulated in the cross, they are to be the bread and butter of the Christian preaching Ministry. Let’s look at 1 Corinthians 15:1-5 how it heavy bookends his epistle to this troubled church. What was he saying to them, Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel (Moreover, you’ve got so many problems, this is how to deal with it) which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you – unless you believed in vain.  For I delivered to you first of all ( or first importance) that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. That should be our priority, a gospel centred ministry. Now why is that? Well, basically because as a believer and in fact, even as an unbeliever, it meets your most basic needs. Not just as a non-Christian who needs to be saved, but to every Christian and Church goer that has ever lived. Joe Long unpacks his message “the Cross is centre to the Church & Christian Ministry”
